There are serious issues going on with our pals at Comcast. Whether it's the
Sandvine deployment (a company that manages the network and has been accused
as the culprit throttling bittorrent or packet shaping to disallow Vonage,
for example) but their supposed "Powerboost" should be making your uploads
FASTER vs. slower.
My problem is iChat (along with many others) detailed here:

The Broadband forums make interesting reading and you could spend hours
reading the suspicions:

Bottom line? None of us have any affordable broadband other than the cable
companies and I'd argue that point with anyone. I pay $70 per month for
Comcast Business class (8mbps download/768kbps upload) and iChat doesn't
work but Skype does. My up and down loads are fine too but bittorrent
doesn't (slows to such a crawl I could use a 300 baud modem and go faster).
What's the solution? I think we broadband users need to form a coalition of
class action -- not to sue, but to have a voice -- to get Comcast to be
responsive. For now, hammer on your city manager like I do to push the
providers.
